A New Recipe

I am always trying different roll recipes. For some reason I feel a need to find a recipe that is yummy and that works great. I think I may have found it!

Recipe

2 cups warm water
2/3 cup dry milk
2 TB yeast
1/4 cup sugar
2 tsp. salt
1/3 cup butter, shortening, or margarine
1 egg
5-5 1/2 cups flour

Mix water and milk until combined. Add yeast, salt, sugar, butter, egg, and 2 cups flour. Mix on low speed until ingredients are wet. Mix on medium speed for 2 minutes. Add 2 cups flour and mix the same as before. Keep adding flour until the dough is manageable. (I used almost all of it).

Rub with oil and flip in bowl, let rise for 45 minutes. Roll out in rectangle. Brush with melted butter. Cut in half both ways. Then cut in strips and roll them up starting with short end. Let rise for 1- 1 1/2 hours, until double. (if you live here, maybe 45 minutes) Bake 375 degrees for 15 minutes. Brush with butter.

Good thing I have new running shoes!

FINALLY

I finally broke down and bought new running shoes. I have needed them so badly, it was getting ridiculous. I have been wanting to increase my running but kept getting shin splints from the old pair of hard wood I was using. I bought my last pair while Michael was is BP academy and still living in Utah. That seems like FOREVER ago (it's been 3 1/2 years).

So for the lack of postings, I wish I could say I was doing something great and fun...just running over here. My shoes are wonderful and make running fun. I started to do some interval training which is kicking my behind. I love it!

Baby Shower

For Young Women's this week we had a surprise baby shower for the YW pres. The girls have been planning this activity for a couple of months. It turned out great and was tons of fun. I decided to try making cake pops for little party favors. I have never made them and I now know why! They were NOT that easy. It took lots of tries to figure it out. Once I got them working it went pretty good. They ended up looking cute.
We also made a diaper cake...I think they always look cute. This one was pretty simple. We used the Target diapers with blue and green polka dots. I love it!
The theme for the shower was the Mad Hatter from Alice. A couple other leaders made this insane cake. They spent hours making it, then it fell apart the morning of the shower and needed a cake Dr. I think it turned out awesome.
She even made all the layers swirly colors.

CAUTION: Baby on the Move!!!!

Since Logan has been fully mobile things have been a little difficult, hectic, gross, crazy, out of control, and just plain scary!!! Particularly the last week. So, one morning last week I brought Logan to my bed to snuggle for a few minutes. He just wants to get off the bed to play in my jewelry box and on my treadmill. I guess I fell back to sleep for a couple minutes. I jumped up out of bed to find Logan. I ran through the house and found the front door open. He was chillin' on our grass sucking on a soda can someone had thrown . SCARY!!

Then a few days later he was playing in our backyard while I was doing homework with Mallory. I started smelling something strange coming from outside, didn't think much of it...we get strange smells out here. Before bed I noticed it was still strong. Michael investigated and figured out he had turned on our BBQ. SCARY!!!!

Then today at church we had more Logan moments. He was "helping" me get some things out of the YW closet. I walked back to the YW room thinking he was following me. He wasn't. He disappeared quickly. Since we meet early, the other ward was in the middle of their Sacrament meeting. Apparently he walked right in their meeting thinking he knew what to do. I guess another man found him wandering around and picked him up. My friend and I were running around the building trying to find him. He was smiling and giggling when I found a strange man holding an exact look a like to Logan. He hates nursery but loves strange men. SCARY!!!

After I found Logan we attempted to go to YW. He quickly did "his business" so we went to the bathroom to take care of that item of importance. I put him on the floor while I was wrapping the diaper up. He quickly turned the corner and found the toilet. Yes, he was swirly his hands around in the water. GROSS!!!!

I don't know what I am going to do with this boy of mine. I now live in constant fear of his life. He is really cute though, and now says mama so endearingly sweet!

It is like my baby grew up over night. He is huge now that he is a vertical baby.

Easter and Earthquakes

Easter this year was a little different. We usually go to my sister's for Easter and Michael is usually in some Academy. So we were kinda excited to stay home and have Michael home too. My parents were suppose to come but they had to bail at the last minute...I guess we live in a non-vacation zone! We did our usual Easter traditions....dyed tons of eggs, had a big egg hunt, a big dinner with LOTS of friends, and you know...have a HUGE earthquake!!! That is right, we live so close to Mexico we felt their big earthquake. It was 7.2 and lasted a long 45 seconds, which seemed a lot longer at the time. Stuff started falling off my shelves and my walls. It was crazy. The rest of the day we had pretty big after shocks. I still feel like our house is shaking. I haven't been in a big earthquake since I was little living near San Francisco. It definitely shook all of us up.

Looks like a big mess...we had so much fun dying eggs. Logan slept the whole time, so the girls and I dyed almost 4 1/2 dozen. Boiled egg anyone???

We left these eggs in all night. We like to see how dark they can get.

Easter morning was different not having to go to church. It was great watching conference and being able to stay home. I did miss getting my kids all dressed up and having cute egg hunt pictures. They specifically asked if they could hunt for eggs in their jammies. The girls woke up at 6:00, which was crazy. They don't even get up that early for Christmas morning.

Logan loves his big ball that the bunny brought him.

He also got a basket full of cars. His favorite thing.

He got this hat too. He loves wearing baseball hats now...just like daddy!
After they looked through their baskets it was hunting time. The bunny came and left his footprints. Pretty cute bunny.

Logan didn't want to hunt for eggs. He was having too much fun with his new truck!

He finally got some shoes that fit him. He has had 3 different sizes in the last month. He looks SO big now that he is walking.
Love looking for eggs in the sand....so deserty! The bunny even put Disneyland pins in the eggs...50 of them. He must be a good shopper!!

Logan got his own ZhuZhu pet, finally. He steels the girls and has a fit if he can't have them. So I guess the girls are happier they don't have to share anymore.
I made paper carrots to go one every one's dinner plate. They are filled with yummy chocolate!

I made our favorite Easter tradition...PB eggs. I branched out and made coconut eggs too. I thought they were good, others did not!
We had a few families come over for dinner. We had ham, potatoes, and I tried some orange rolls. They turned out better than I thought. I made my favorite carrot cake too. I think I like it WAY better than any chocolate cake.

Spring Break Staycation

We decided to stay home for our Spring Break. We have been sooo tired since our Disneyland trip, a crazy week of soccer, and all the sickness. So, we had fun hanging around and best of all...sleeeeeping in!

The county fair was here, so we went with our friends on dollar day.
This is Jillian and her friend Cole. They were too cute riding together on this little roller coaster.

Mallory was a dare devil and went on some crazy fair rides.

It was 90 degrees the day we went. HOT!! I love the random lady in the background. I wish I could send this picture to her. (This is what our town looks like here...that is mean. They are all starting to leave now)
This was Logan's first adventure out where he could walk....he is going to be a busy one.

I HAD to take a picture of the art entries at the fair. I thought this one in particular was so creative and the level of difficulty looks quite extreme. COME ON PEOPLE!!!

The rest of the week the kids had fun hanging around and playing. They don't get much time to do that. They love making pillow pits and jumping in them and snuggling in them too.

We started the sprinklers back up and they remember going out at 7:00 and running around in them last summer...I just love that. It makes a grassy mess in my laundry room.
The girls decorated a box and we grew Easter grass in it. The grass actually grew.

They like to lay our beach towels out on the grass and put a box over them (I'm thinking it's suppose to be like a sun shade). I'm sure our neighbors think we are weird.
