Good Works Lesson

For my Good Works lesson, I made little flippy books for the girls to work out of for a couple of weeks. They were able to pass off 2 of the PP requirements.

I glued a bunch of envelopes together and made pullout tabs for them to read the scripture that was on it, and write down the good deeds they saw done that day. Then on the back they wrote the good deeds they would do for the next day. They turned out cute, and helped motivate the girls to get their Personal Progress done!

I do love yellow and brown together!

Young Women Back to School Night

For our mutual night the week school started, we decided to do a fun activity to help the girls remember the things that are important!! I made them all a sack lunch with fluffernutter cut out sandwiches (PB & marshmallow cream). We also had a mom with a few teenage daughters give advise to the girls. It was tons of fun!

We had them put together cute bags for another girl (they drew names) and write a letter of encouragement.

We printed out several cute saying with candy to go with it...the girls LOVED it!

It was a lot of work but worked out really good. I love seeing the girls enjoy our activities that we work so hard on!

Angry Birds LIVE!

We were in charge of our 2 ward combined YW/YM activity this week. We decided to do Angry Birds Live! We painted balls, took lots of boxes, and used a resistance band for the sling shot. We divided into 2 groups, and had a 5 minute scripture chase. How ever many scriptures they got equalled how many birds they were allowed to shoot. The kids loved it, even though it was a little organized chaos!
I made 70 angry bird cupcakes. It was serious craziness at my house...frosting everywhere! (my friend watched my 2 crazy kids and Hallie napped for most of the time...I'm soooo missing my Mallory)
Our little kids wanted to play it so bad, so this morning we went to the park and let them play. Fun idea for kids. We melted at the park though. We met at 9:30 and by 10:00 we were dying from the heat. I think it was 106 at 10 this am!! Crazy crazy!!!

Temple Marriage Lesson

I taught YW last week and the lesson was Temple Marriage! I was so excited to teach this one. This was my favorite lesson when I was in YW. Since we were at Disneyland most of the week before, and Hallie was super sick I didn't have much time to do a handout. This is what I quickly came up with. I mod podged paper on a thin wooden plaque (from HL) and glued a temple pic on it. Then just decorated and put magnets on the back. The vinyl took the longest, it was small lettering.
In the beginning of my lesson I handed out chocolate mini cupcakes (they were yummy) and told them they could eat it or wait til the end for a better treat! If they ate it they would not get the better treat. (It's the same idea as the worth the wait video, the one with the little kids and the ch. chips). At the end I had the other leader bring in a round layered cake ( that I got from walmart...didn't have time or skills to make pretty white wedding cake). They were so excited and glad they waited!

Easter Books

For my YW Easter lesson I decided to make each girl an Easter book. Simple idea in the beginning, but NOT so much in the end!!! I made it of the week leading up to Easter. Each day there are events that I wanted the girls to know about. Each little flap in the photo flip book has a different day on it. I downloaded pictures of the lds website and printed wallet size pictures to go with some of the events.

I used cute Stampin Up designer series paper that I have had for years! The flip book is just 2 pieces of 12x12 paper cut in half and scored at 3 and 9 in...making 3 inch flaps and a 6 inch page.

I put all the text into word and sized everything to fit. This took some time, so I have it all saved if anyone wants it!

I didn't have time to add cute embellishments in it, but that would be cute!

I used a couple pass along cards too.

I glued ribbon on the back (you are really to cut a little place for it to go through on the back cover, but I didn't make time for that) and then vinyled the title page.

I do love how they turned out.

After we read and discussed the book, I showed them An Easter Declaration. I love the 2 1/2 minute video. Then we finished it all off with my Chocolate PB Eggs!!! The girls loved the lesson and gave me hugs afterward!

I have had a Simplify sign up in my house for awhile. My friend pointed this out to me when I told her about these books...so my new motto is BE COMPLICATED! I love that more.
